Some visitors!

This week we had 6 tiny visitors to our school!

Sow and Grow

There was great excitement when our innocent Sow and Grow packs arrived and we set to work planting our cress, pumpkin and courgette seeds.  We will look after them in the classroom for the next few weeks and then mind them over the summer and hopefully will have pumpkins and courgettes to harvest in the autumn!

Gordan D’Arcy

This week we were very lucky to have Gordon D’Arcy come and bring us on a nature walk to the local turlough and quarry and have a look at the different flora and fauna.  We then returned to the class and drew some lovely pictures of what we saw on our expedition!

Our theme for the last few weeks was Irish culture so we decided to carry out a project based on the local place names.  We found out a lot of interesting things about our local area that you can see in the pictures below! 

Seachtain na Gaeilge – Diolachán Cácaí

Chun deireadh a chur ar Sheachtain na Gaeilge, D’eagair rang a sé agus rang a cuig Diolachán Cácaí chun airgead a bhailiú don ‘Cancer Care West’.  Bhí go leor cácaí, burróga, milseáin agus gráin rósta le díol agus bhain gach duine an-taitneamh as!

FAI Soccer Blitz

Well done to all that took part in the FAI soccer blitz last Wednesday in Shiven.  Congrats to the boys A team who won their 4 group matches and are now through to the Galway finals in Salthill on the 22nd of April!
